Create and Online Profile.

Purpose of Creating Canvas Profile

Creating a community within your class can help your students feel like they are a part of something bigger which can lead to feeling more "connected"...both of which can be tied to student completion and success! Simple yet powerful, right? So add your profile, and encourage your students to do the same.
Canvas profiles enable you AND your students to:
  • learn more about each other
  • put names to faces
What to add to your profile. When you write your profile, use this as an opportunity to share:
  • why you love to teach,
  • why you love the subject you teach, (exude excitement! it will come through your teaching)
  • how you are committed to  supporting student learning
  • add in a bit about you professionally (background) and personally (kids? pets? hobbies?), while staying professional.
This professional profile conveys that you are a human, too, with interests and passion outside of the classroom. This is vital so that students can connect to you as a real person behind the technology.
You only create one Canvas Profile. It will show for all of your courses.

Canvas How-to's

You may refer to the Instructor Canvas Guides (Links to an external site.) for step-by-step how-tos on editing and adding a picture to your profile (Links to an external site.). (The purpose of this course is to provide online course design basics, and does not explictly include Canvas how-tos, as there are other resources for Canvas use.)
